Chris & Tina

Our last wedding of this season was a very special one. Tina is a co-worker of my husband, KC, and she and Chris have been through some real struggles to get to this point. The couple was planning to be married last summer, but a few months before the wedding the bride was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After undergoing treatment and regaining her health, they were finally ready to walk down the aisle on June 27th, and we were able to be there to capture every moment.

The wedding was held in Topeka, so it was a bit of a road trip for us, but a lot of fun. Tina did not want Chris to see her before the ceremony, so I got to hang out with her and her bridesmaids to take pictures while KC & Forest handled the guys.

The ceremony was beautiful, and very moving...

Afterwards we traveled a few miles away to beautiful Shawnee Lake to get some romantic pictures of the happy couple.

It was so touching to see how genuinely happy all the guests were for this wonderful couple. A huge crowd turned out to wish them all the best.

We wish Chris & Tina all the best and are so happy they are finally able to start their life together.

Mark & Cathy

We had the privilege of shooting Mark & Cathy's wedding a few weeks ago. This wedding presented a special challenge to us, as it was the first wedding ever where the bride & groom wanted absolutely no formal posed pictures at ALL. Everything was strictly photojournalism, which was fabulous for me, as that is the style I greatly prefer and am very comfortable with. It did mean we had to really be on our toes and catch every moment as it occurred spontaneously, though, rather than trying to set anything up :) We arrived in time to catch Cathy in the bride room with her daughers, putting on the finishing touches. Cathy was joking that I was catching her being girly and no one would believe it without seeing the pictures...everyone is apparently way more used to seeing this retired Air Force officer in her combat boots :)

After relaxing with her daughters and greeting her family and a few special friends as they arrived, Cathy made her way out to the sanctuary to be escorted down the aisle by her son.

The service was performed by two pastors who were both a very large part of the bride & groom's lives. The bride's three children and the groom's two sons made up the wedding party, and when it was time to light the unity candle, the whole family participated. It was a very special, very personal ceremony.

After the ceremony we all headed over to the fabulous Eaton Hotel for the reception, which was beautiful. Mark & Cathy spent the evening catching up with old friends in between dinner, cake, and dancing.

This special couple has been through a lot in their lives, and we are very happy for them and wish them all the happiness in the world.

Tara & Chad

Tara and Chad actually came to us after seeing the work we did for some friends of theirs at their wedding a couple of years ago, which is of course our favorite way of getting new clients :) They are a very kind, easygoing couple, and it was a real pleasure to work with both of them. They were married at St. Peter's in Schulte, which was actually a new church to us, but it was quite beautiful. We were able to find plenty of spots inside & out to shoot everything we needed.

Even though we were all shooting outside at the same time, we managed to keep the guys completely separate from the girls to make sure Chad didn't catch a glimpse of Tara before it was time for her to walk down the aisle.

The ceremony itself was beautiful...

Even though it was blistering hot outside, Chad & Tara were still willing to get up close & personal for some romantic pictures before heading in to the reception.

Congratulations!

Keith & Jennifer

Earlier in June we shot our one and only outdoor wedding of this season with Keith & Jennifer at Botanica. It was a bit of a challenge being midday in June (I think it was something like 400 degrees outside), but it was a beautiful day and everyone was willing to do whatever it took.

Keith & Jennifer held their ceremony in a small circular garden towards the back of the gardens. Afterwards we spent some time walking around the rest of the gardens taking pictures of the bride, groom, and wedding party. We had to make it quick because of the heat, but everyone was very gracious and nobody complained, even when this very pregnant photographer had to take a break :)

After the ceremony we all headed over to the Petroleum Club for the reception. This was the first wedding we've done where there was a mariachi band at the reception, and it was so much fun.

Everyone had a blast at the reception...lots of good food, awesome music, and dancing. We can't wait to see Keith & Jennifer again!
